Awesome service from Amazon, surprisingly good quality from CAP
Ordered twenty-eight 10s and four 5s to make some pro style Dumbbells. I was surprised by the quality and consistency of these plates (CAP is notorious for poor quality control). All fit perfectly on my SDH handles from Christian’s fitness factory.
Does what you need it to do
In the sense of weight lifting, that’s all you need; “To do what you need it to do.” The reason it is hazardous to the health is because it contains lead. Don’t chew on it or lick it and you will be just fine.
better than average quality
decent and consistent quality. bought (4) 1.25 lb plates in black and I’m very happy with them. would definitely buy these again as long as the quality remains the same. since I wrote this review I bought (12) 5 lb plates in grey. the quality is excellent and consistent. I had an issue with 2 of the 5 lb plates and AMAZON has sent me replacements. the grey finish seems to be a more durable finish than the black finish. these plates are compatible with the 15.75 inch x 1.25 inch dumbbell handles as well as the 14 inch x 1 inch dumbbell handles. I highly recommend these plates from CAP BARBELL. I ordered similar plates on WAYFAIR.COM from USA SPORTS by TROY BARBELL and the quality is very bad. I placed 2 orders from WAYFAIR about 1 year apart and both times the quality was very bad. UPDATE 7/10/16 I just ordered (4) 10 pound plates and the quality was exceptional I paln to buy more in the future.
Good solid weights, terrific bargain price
I bought the CAP Barbell 50 pound weight set that has four 3 pound and four 7.5 pound weights (it was fifty four dollars). So I bought four of these 5 pound weights to go with my set. They are six dollars each. I also bought four 1.25 pound weights at two dollars each.
They fit and slid on my main bar (smooth and uses clips), curl bar, and two different sets of dumb bell bars (all can take screw-on plates and screw-on collars). The holes are a bit bigger than the 1 inch so if your bar is out of spec they probably would still work. I did not have any issues with any of the 12 causing collars to loosen when mixed with other sized plates.
The look and feel of these weights is one of professional quality. I am picky on my purchases. I don’t mind spending extra money to get a product of quality I know will last for a long time. Fortunately, in this case, I did not need to spend the extra money for that professional gym level quality. Even the packaging was impressive. I ordered two 25lb weights. Each weight came with its own box. Inside the box, the weights were enclosed in a plastic sleeve and then bubble wrapped.
Perfect size for small lifts
As a small woman, it’s sometimes difficult to increase the weight I’m lifting by 5lbs at a time. These fractional plates have helped immensely. I can now move up faster without sacrificing form or spending too much time with weight and that are far too light.
Great compact plates!
I ordered two twenty five pound plates and liked them enough that I ordered two more. The first two arrived with minimal, yet effective, packaging. They were shipped individually, covered with thick card board directly contacting the weight plates. The second two were shipped in cardboard boxes (that were a little large for the plates). Of the second two, the first arrived double boxed with packing paper in the inside box to take up the extra space. That plate arrived in great shape. The last plate that arrived was in a single box with paper and a little bubble wrap. The box was damaged and the plate had a couple of small spots near the edges where the paint was chipped or abraded away showing bare metal.
Made a mistake!!
I made a mistake when I bought these and didn’t read that they were iron. But they are still pretty awesome plates. My big mistake was that I didn’t buy a weight tree to help adjust weight easier, and I got rid of them. I didn’t think it through, but I also didn’t have a spotter, so I went on back to resistance bands. Which I enjoy, but I do miss free weights too.
