Almost perfect – with one addition
I purchased this treadmill about a week ago. It is light weight but feels very stable. There is little, almost no assembly required. I am a 68 year woman and my only problem was no side bar for balance. I went to Lowe ‘s and bought a threaded piece of PVC pipe and screwed it into a “T clamp” that clips on to the handle bars. It works great and for less than $6.00 it gives me all the stability I need for balance. You could attach with screws but this worked fine for me. I think they ought to look at adding this, at least as an option. (Yes, I painted the plastic pipe and put tape were the handhold is …. not necessary, but I thought it looked a little nicer.)
Love my Confidence tread mill!
I just received my Confidence tread mill yesterday and used it probably six times already. As a 74 year old lady I took out the 3 year warranty for the affordable extra cost as it would be hard for me to package up and send out in the mail. My Fed Ex man brought it right into my living room for me. I live in a mobile home and needed something small. I did not expect to receive a “cadillac” model for the money so I was pleased with the quality for the affordable cost. Yes, the directions are sketchy, but in truth it’s rather a “no-brainer” to install the three knobs and four screws that come with it. At first, I couldn’t figure why there would be a knob on the side bar, but then I read another comment and realized it’s there to lock in the bottom of the tread mill when you fold it up.
Perfect for my TREADMILL DESK!
I recently converted to a standing desk from IKEA (the Fredrik) and I had been searching for a really small and lightweight treadmill that had handlebars that I could easily disassemble. When I saw this inexpensive and really compact option, I was hoping it would fit the bill – and it did! Not only that, but it was super easy to setup within 30 minutes once I received the shipment from Third Party Vendor, Golf Outlets of America (located in CA).
If simple is what you’re looking for, this is the treadmill for you.
We wanted a treadmill, not a huge piece of furniture. We didn’t want a gigantic machine that would take up half of our guestroom. We don’t need a computerized machine from NASA that will do our taxes and compare our caloric loss to the lunar cycle.
Great inexpensive treadmill, perfect for walking and working if you have a height adjustable desk.
I’ve only had this one day but so far I’m very pleased. I read a bunch of other reviews and was able to easily modify this to use at my adjustable height desk and walk while working. I’m not one of those people who must have the ability to download all the data on how far, how fast, how long I walked today. If I was, I guess I would have a fitbit. I want to be able to walk while working because while I enjoy standing much more than sitting all day, standing still gets old too. Now I can walk, stand or sit easily. When I’m tired of walking, I just stand on the treadmill. When I want to sit, the treadmill easily pushes up under my desk so I can sit (see last pic).
Here are some better set-up and maintaining instructions (theirs need serious work)
I’m not familiar with treadmills, so I am not going to commend on the instructions for assembly and for adjusting the belt. The equipment is solid and secure, but the instructions are poor–and out of date for the equipment, and the photos are black on black on grey with a white background. The notorious Ikea does a far better job. Since I have a white treadmill, and experience leading students through laboratory assignments….
Decent because it’s Inexpensive
Works pretty well for the money. I have one in my home office. It is just narrow enough to fit behind my desk chair in a normal size bedroom without making me feel claustrophobic. Being narrow is a tradeoff though. As others have said, you have to mind your foot placement while using it because it’s easy to drag your foot on the edge outside the belt. If your foot overlaps the belt, it can snag on the non-moving edge strip and throw you off balance. I like to use a tablet to look at websites while I’m using it, and it takes some practice to do it smoothly.
Combine Treadmill with Standing Desk
My son-in-law gave me the book, Eat Move Sleep by Tom Rath a while back and I finally got around to reading it. Now I am a nutritional vegans so eat no meat, fish, dairy or eggs so that is in line with the book’s recommendations. I try to walk daily with my wife Nancy, but we often are too busy so just don’t do it as often as we should. While Nancy is up and about most of the time I tend to sit in front of my workstations writing, blogging and doing remote IT support work.
