Excellent for Walking Treadmill Desk

Let me start by mentioning that I ordered this from Amazon and it arrived super fast!! I ordered it on a Sunday night and although it was not scheduled to arrive until the following week, it arrived within a few days (Thanks Amazon!). UPS delivered it to my door and since I happened to be home at the time, they brought it inside and dropped it off at my entryway (every little bit helps!). Since I’m in a split level condo, I had to haul the 150 box upstairs. That was probably the toughest part of the whole experience. Once I managed to get it up to my home office, the set up was pretty easy. Everyone has different reasons for purchasing a treadmill which is reflected in their review. I am writing this review based on my very specific intent of using this as a walking treadmill desk. This is the second treadmill I have purchased for this specific reason. My first treadmill was a much higher-end treadmill with all the bells and whistles you could think of and I used it for nearly 3 years. The problem with the higher end treadmill was that it was VERY LOUD to begin with and VERY BIG (even though it was foldable it was too heavy to move. I finally got rid of it because the noise was just too unbearable.

good build quality, perfect, wife loved it

It doesn’t have all the bells and whistles of more expensive treadmills, no auto-incline, no speakers, no jogging map on-screen, or ipod connection. Which is good because that’s not what I was looking for. There isn’t a great deal out there on the internet but I did as much research on this as I could, found a few vids on youtube and the company website also, read thru the user guide. I found numerous positive reviews and a handful of negative reviews. On balance this sounded great so I went ahead and took the plunge. Amazon had the best deal and I managed to get free shipping with a prime trial. Delivery took about 10 days by UPS, and as luck would have it I was at home and looking out the window when UPS arrived, I helped the two delivery people carry from the truck to my front porch, this is a big box, 149lbs, sheepishly I asked if they wanted to help me take it inside, they ‘didn’t hear me’ and were back in the truck before I could blink! So I lugged it up the step through my front door and then down the basement stairs, I’m not the fittest but survived, would not recommend most people doing this! Get someone young and fit to help you manoeuver the box.

Good treadmill for chubsters like me 🙂

Best. Idea. Ever. I made a custom treadmill desk, angled to be level, mounted a computer monitor in front, and game while walking. I’ll walk for an hour, and not even notice the time going by. I’m around 375, and this treadmill handles my weight with ease. I’ve walked around 11 miles this week on my new treadmill. That is 11 more miles than I normally would walk. Am I going to win any races walking along? Yes. I’m moving faster than I would be sitting in my office chair! I’ll update in a few months with my health increases (and hopefully, waistline decreases!) Also, I’m 6’1″ with long legs. The track length is just fine, I never feel like I’m going to fall off, and only occasionally hit the front (if I get too excited and start walking faster). The extra width is really nice, I had a previous treadmill with a 16″ wide deck, and was always hitting the sides. Not had that problem yet. Also, the treadmill belt stays centered very well, took only a slight adjustment out of the box, and haven’t had to readjust yet. *Update 3/6/17 Two months in, I’ve been consistently using this 5-6 times a week for an hour or more.

Best value for a treadmill desk, but be prepared to do some work

This is a great treadmill for a standing desk if you don’t want to spend $1000+ for LifeSpan and you’re willing to put in some work to get it setup right. At first I looked at the Confidence Power Plus Motorized Electric Treadmill after reading a blog post, but that is very underpowered for use as a daily driver. You need a treadmill with a high power and torque if you’ll be using it for long hours each day while walking. The Confidence only has 600W (0.8 hp), while this one has 1.5 hp. Also, the lower speed limit (4mph) on this treadmill is actually a plus, as it enables the motor to apply more torque to support your weight. ( 1.5 hp treadmill with a max speed of 4 mph will have more torque than a 1.5 hp treadmill with a max speed of 8mph). I removed all the handles/frame except for the console to minimize the footprint after following advice from another reviewer Jonathan Blank: https://www.amazon.

Great for basic walking regimen

While this is a very nice treadmill overall, I dropped it one star for the following reasons: 1. The controls on the handlebars are too sensitive, just gripping the handles over the pulse pads changed settings including speed. 2. The right handle controls do not work properly right out of the box; the speed control either doesn’t work at all when pressed or speeds up way too fast. Therefore, I do not touch those controls while using the machine, instead I grasp the bars just above the controls. This is actually a fairly minor inconvenience as the control panel screen has very large and easy on/off and speed control buttons. In Fact, I prefer to use the control panel over the handle controls so for my own preference, it’s not a huge deal. The unit was fairly simple to set up although my sighted friend had a lot of trouble determining the color coding on the wire connections. The wires are either black or white, they should be completely different colors and labeled to make it easier to assemble. Once set up and running, it’s simple to use. Hit the main switch on the bottom right of the unit next to the electrical cord plug-in to get the thing started.

Safe with challenges, good for adaptive use, effective and fun for rehabilitation

Outstanding fit for my serious adaptive needs. Two days in, I’ve clocked .2 miles. I took a star off only because it arrived with the endpiece piece broken off the left rear siderail. To my vast relief, that isn’t affecting function so we don’t face the (probably impossible) physical task of returning it. My 74-year-old husband and a slightly built (but decisive) health aide put it together as I sat in a wheelchair reading out the instructions. No way could we get it back in that box. Weight-bearing exercise is the most dramatic, proven treatment to prevent osteoporosis (after 3 years of prednisone), but ironically poses its own dangers. First and foremost I must not fall again, you must not fall, he, she, and it must not fall. The safety features of this treadmill were decisive in my choice. 1. It does start slow enough. For some reason .4 mph looked scary fast at first, and we sat there dropping things on it and timing them to check if it was set right. By that time it was late and we were exhausted. 2. The safety key works, but it isn’t good for me because I already have an oxygen line and my pulse oxymeter to worry about. Too many strings.
