I’ve just received my Gazelle Edge last week. I like using it and the computer seems to be comparable with distance and calories burned when using a gym-quality elliptical (where you can program your age and weight). I’ve read hundreds of reviews (bad ones first) to try to figure out how to avoid issues addressed. I’ve found this YouTube link for assembly: […] I’ve also preemptively slathered the axle bar with vaseline before connecting right & left bars. I’m 58, took my time to put it together myself and only asked for assistance to lift the Gazelle once assembled. I probably didn’t need to have help; it’s fairly lightweight. Took about an hour and a half for me; used a small adjustable wrench and phillips screwdriver. I took pictures as I unpacked to see how to re-ship if the product was defective. The reasons I bought a Gazelle instead of an elliptical: 1) Weight. A decent elliptical is going to be far heavier than I can manage to move on my own, 2) Low joint impact. I am still sore from the muscle groups worked but my knees do not hurt like when I’ve gone biking or used the elliptical at the gym. 3) Cost.

GREAT EXERCISE AND NOT TOO LARGE

This was ordered December 25, 2013; delivered December 30; it was assembled and I started using beginning January 3, 2014. We live in Central Florida and I wanted something to use when it was too hot most of the time) or raining outside. I had had a treadmill but it wore out. This is great. Didn’t know exactly what to expect when ordering this, but am very happy. It is not some huge, space-hogging apparatus. I am 5’2″ (female, senior citizen) and the front crossbar is at or just above my waste. Make note, though, that my 5’11” physically-fit and health-conscious son has tried it and loved it. He is just as comfortable on it and it fits his size too. It glides easily and is absolutely, totally quiet. You can make the “workout” as difficult or easy as you please. I am not overweight, walk 5 days/week, lift 8 lb. hand weights and do exercises 5 days a week, and I can feel this in my legs, hips, and arms–surprised, but happy, about the arm workout. I like the timer, etc., on the crossbar and find it gives me somewhat of a challenge to improve my “burn”. It doesn’t take long to get a good workout on it either.

Very low impact and no bra needed either

So is this Gazelle thing really working? I wouldn’t know because I don’t do it consistently enough (like every day) but I’ve been getting on it about 2 to 3 times per week for about a half hour each time. I bought it because I sit all day at a desk job and know that I need to get my heart rate up if I don’t want to die a young death. I was also looking for a piece of exercise equipment that I could keep in my living room that wouldn’t take up too much space, that I could take out and use while I watch episodes of Mozart in the Jungle (fabulous, btw) or one of the free movies on Amazon Prime. I leave it folded up in the corner leaned up against the wall, and it’s a little awkward and heavy to drag out, but I’m not moving it that far. I haven’t used it to hang clothes on yet which is a really good sign. Once I’m on the Gazelle, I feel like I can go on forever. It’s very low impact and I don’t even need to wear a bra while I exercise on it. You aren’t bouncing up and down with everything jiggling around which I like.

Adding Tension

Like everyone else, I was disappointed at the lack of resistance so I simply added a couple of bungee cords to the handles–you can slide them up for less resistance or down for more. SEE CUSTOMER IMAGE for a picture.

HAPPY SO FAR!!

Just got it delivered today and it looks like everything was in the box. It took my boyfriend about a 1/2 hr or less to put it together and wasn’t difficult. I was happy to see the Gazelle seems sturdy and durable. I haven’t fully used it however I did get on it to test it and on carpet it doesn’t make any noise or wobble. It seems pretty easy to use and I think I’ll learn quickly how to do even more than a simple walk on it, I like that you can use some imagination to change up a workout. I’m pretty happy so far! I do think I’ll add bungie cords and/or weights to my ankles and wrists for some resistance. I hope this product at least last 6 months – a year, if it does then I’ll be very happy with this purchase. I’ll re-review this product after using it for a month or so, to update the quality of it and any weight loss. Update – 07/09/17 I can say now that I’ve used this pretty much every day since I got it about 2 weeks ago for about 1/2-1hr daily that it does start to squeak. I wear my headphones with music lately but I do worry it could annoy neighbors and that would depress me since I don’t want to stop using a workout machine.

Perfect if you are new to exercise (like me).

I am loving my Gazelle Edge. Received it a week ago and for a week, I have worked out daily. 7 days, almost 4 miles a day. About 45 – 50 minutes. I am a beginner. Never cared about exercising before (shame on me!), trying to lose weight and get healthier. Gazelle was perfect for me! I feel surprisingly energized and working out has become a fun time while watching some TV. I actually look forward to get moving. Wish I had known about this gem looong time and some extra pounds ago. 🙂
