If you've never used a set of weight lifting hooks they can completely change your workouts and they serve a ton of different purposes. Strength enthusiasts almost immediately see an increase in their weight and reps, often bumping them over a plateau. Heavy duty steel hooks are a great companion to a grip that gives out before you hit that new personal record. Expect to feel a difference on any pulling motion. For bodybuilders, loosening your grip and letting the weight "hang" allows it to transfer past your grip and forearms into your larger targeted back muscles causing them to 'fire' in a whole new way. If you're a pro obviously forearms still need to be trained separately because they're taken almost completely out of the movement. Training around injuries: lifting hooks can serve as a solution for alleviating pain from things like tendonitis while still being able exercise all the way to outpatient rehabilitation clinics where patients have limited hand function and dexterity and require supplemental grip strength from our design. The Story behind these: We took some of the best lifting hooks available (which we loved using) and redesigned them to meet our own needs. We added a super thick neoprene wrist padding and a higher quality well-shaped hook that hugs the bar. We even included a rubber coating that grips barbells, dumbbells, and machine attachments like lat pulldown bars. Happy lifting!

There are those that scoff at straps or hooks. But to my mind, if I’m lifting for back and my grip is limiting me, then I’m short shrifting my back workout. I can work on my grip separately and without holding back my other lifts. That said, I’m loving these hooks. I had standard straps before, but they added a not-insignificant amount of time to each lift. These are near instant. They’re strong (supporting over 320 pounds easily – so far). They fit snugly and securely. My absolute only complaint about these is that the hooks aren’t open quite enough. At least not for the equipment I’ve been using. It doesn’t make them unusable, but it does mean that getting them off some bars is humorous to watch for onlookers.
Excellent in relieving "pulling pressure" strain
My doctor told me I needed to quit working with heavy weights because the grip required to hold the bar was making my fingers ache (I’m late 50s). I decided to try these first, and they totally work. I still need to use a fraction of the grip to do the exercise, but now it is manageable and my weight limits are actually higher than before!
Works as expected but you will have to use some of your own grip strength as well or you’ll pull your wrists out of socket. Its good at assisting, but not doing all the work for you.
Has helped me not to rely on finger/thumb strength to …
Has helped me not to rely on finger/thumb strength to do my lifting. Was having left thumb pain and this has really helped a lot. Relieves the stress of the grip and lets the hooks support the weight so I can focus on targeting the muscles without stopping short of my capability.
They are comfortable and are generally well made
I bought these for a friend that was having problems with her grip. They were too big for her so she gave them back and I have been using them for a few months. They are comfortable and are generally well made. The one problem I had is the steel piece used to hold the straps in place is rather flimsy and gets bent if you lift with lots of weight. These work well for just about everything except deadlifts.
Works great but…
The hooks work great but the wrist straps are short. In order to reach the Velcro I have to pull them so tight it cuts off the circulation in my hands
Enables me to workout while healing Golfer’s Elbow
I developed an acute case of Golfer’s Elbow, with the result that I could not grip anything without causing intense pain on that arm.. For a long time I hung around the cable machine doing the “wrap the strap around your hand” trick but it was really limiting and time consuming wrapping athletic tape over my wrists. I was so glad when I discovered these, it seemed like the perfect enabler. When these arrived I immediately put them on and tried some pullups – they held me and I was able to crank a few off without gripping at all. So most of the exercises I couldn’t do previously, I was able to do now – deadlifts, shrugs, rows, lat pulldowns…any pulling movement was available to me. I don’t feel as if my injury is aggravated at all doing these movements with the lifting hooks and I can continue lifting. Excellent product design, good quality. I’d say these are essential to anyone with an injury like mine and who doesn’t want their progress to slide back. Can’t do barbell curls or tricep extensions though, but that’s not the design intent of these.
