I have been lifting for many years and now at age 51 find myself using more machines. I have used many commercial smith machines and while this one isn’t quite up to those standards, it is a very good smith machine. Very sturdy and very smooth. I have had 400 lbs on it for squats and felt very safe. The only down side is when you unclip the bar from the slots, there is very little spave between the shaft that the bar rides up and down on and the upright. Sometimes the hook will hit as I get tired. Overall excellent product and I use hard and heavy!!!!

very good.

The Smith machine works well. It’s not difficult to put together or take apart. If I ever needed to move it then I’d detach the left and right side, which is about eight bolts. It doesn’t shake or rattle unless your bolts aren’t tight. The safety spotter is smooth and secure. I have no problems with the hooks… I am very glad I bought this machine.

Excellent machine

It takes 2 men 1.30′ to assemble. The machine is sturdy and does not even require “weighing down.” I was afraid it would tilt. It does not because you stand on the iron plate below while you squat. It also has a counterbalancing extension to the rear which does the job well – even when you lean into the bar. For some reason I could not fit in the rubber “pins” into the sliding irons. They pop out when you go up and down. However, I do not find them necessary. You need to lubricate (special lubrication and touch up paint is enclosed). Great machine, saves a lot of headache from stifled gyms and lack of a good spotting partner.

Well-enough made for home use. Sturdy, tracks smoothly. Adds a degree of safety if you don’t have a spotter.

Ok, I wanted to wait a few weeks of using this product before reviewing. In short, this is a very decent smith machine for home gym use. I’m a bit surprised by some of the negative reviews as I found this product easy to assemble (took about two hours with minimal tools). The assembly instructions could be better, but if you’ve assembled gym equipment before you’ll likely figure it out pretty quickly. The product came with silicon spray lubricant that, when applied, makes the machine glide smoothly.

Just had this smith machine delivered yesterday. I was quite weary at first seeing the mixed reviews on the internet( one said the structure is unstable after loading it with substantial weights, the other said it is rock solid etc…).

Fantastic Smith Squat Machine For A Fantastic Price

This is a great Smith Squat Machine and it is a great price. It is solid and I would say one can easily and safely squat with 400 to 450 pounds. Very well constructed and doesn’t take up much space so perfect for a home gym. It took about 1.5 hours to assemble and instructions were good. Using the Smith Squat Machine allows you to squat with your back straight, feet closer together and pointed straight ahead therefore most of the stress goes towards building up the quads (front thighs) as opposed to a barbell squat where you work your thighs, glutes (butt), lower back and even hamstrings a little. In just a few months I have added significant muscle to my thighs that I wasn’t getting from regular squats. My legs have gone from 23″ to 24″ and I see that continuing despite my advanced age. As far as Smith Squat Machines go, this one based on quality and price is the obvious choice and I highly recommend it. Note the barbell is for standard (1″ hole”) weights. You can use Olympic plates (2″ hole”) but not designed for them.
