Solid, Versatile, Does the job
It’s the real deal. I have one of those basements that are not very tall and this is the only power rack that will fit into it. When I do pullups I just lean my head away before it hits the ceiling. When I do dips I look down.
Better Grips and More Height
I’m sure this unit is great for someone under six feet tall. I’m 6′ 6″ and have to bend my knees to hang with straight arms. My size makes the unit rock slightly as I transition through the exercise, but I’m well within the 300 pound weight limit at 240. The grips are my chief complaint. The diameter of the grips is small, and the rubber cushioning is minimal. The rubber grips do not secure well to the metal, instead they twist, making my hands roll around the bars. Since the grips are small in diameter, I cannot squeeze the bars hard enough to keep my grip from twisting. I went to Dollar Tree and bought eight rolls of athletic boxing tape and wrapped each grip to keep my hands from twisting, and I put a thin layer of Gorilla Glue under each grip. I also bought a cheap pair of rubber-lined mechanics gloves to increase the grip spacing. The grips no longer twist under my hands, but I should not have had to do so much extra work. I’m making a cradle to put under the unit so that my legs and arms can be straight during the exercise. I found some 4×4 wooden posts at Home Depot that I will glue together lengthwise to give the unit eight more inches of height.
Cheap product, but gets the job done, and is a real space-saver
This is not a high-quality gym product. It’s not very steady, and it really wobbles when you excercise. But come on! What did you expect for $106?
Just what I was looking for
Nice piece of equipment, stable and well made. Better quality than I would have imagined given the price point. All the parts lined up perfectly and I had the unit assembled in about 15 minutes. Really like that it has a max chin up bar height adjustment that is a few inches taller than most standard power towers. At 6′ tall I am maybe 1/2″ off the ground while gripping the chin up bar flat footed, so no bent knee chin ups for me. Glad I found this item. Although my tower was level after assembly, I noticed that some reviewers mentioned that their tower was not perfectly level after assembly. My tower came with one adjustable foot pad to level the tower. May be the adjustment pad is a new feature, the instructions made no mention of it.
I’m updating my review. I’m keeping this pull-up tower.
This is actually a very good product. I’m impressed!
Great and easy assembly
This works nicely for apartment use and for those times when one cannot go to the exercise room. It is for my son and he really appreciates what it does for him, It is well made and assembly was a breeze. Needed a mat which was purchased elsewhere.
Simple Tower-Great Value
I’m only 5’9″ 175lb, but I have 180lbs worth of weights laying around that I use to load up my dips and chins and this thing has been rock solid. Doesn’t rock for me, doesn’t feel flimsy (although I wish the dip bars had some sort of support bar instead of just popping out, probably unnecessary though). I love the adjustable height, fits easily in my smaller rental home. This things has replace the gym for me and, in combination with some convict conditioning principals, has given great results. Would definitely recommend. 4 stars just because it does not feel like it would handle the full 300lb on the dips bars, but that’s just my assessment/gut feeling; it’s not failed me yet.
This is perfect for tall people
This is perfect for tall people. I’m 6’4″ and it works great for me. It also has a very small footprint so it fits nicely in a corner of the room.
Stable and secure pullup bar.
Instructions are easy to follow for installation. I weight 210 at 5’10 and have no trouble with this bar. It does not rock or move while doing dips or pullups.
Easy to put together
Easy to put together, seems pretty solid. Another commenter here made the comment that the dip arms move in and out – I honestly have no idea how that could happen, since the arms are welded to the body. Great buy!
