Great pull up bar

Used the iron gym for years, but I moved into a new apartment that has larger door frames and the iron gym didn’t fit. I like this one much better, it feels sturdier and gives more options for hand placement. It has good covers on the end to protect the door frames but I did wrap towels over them for good measure just in case.

I got this to relieve shoulder pain by doing ‘dead hangs’. Once I figured out two of the screws are longer, those are the ones you use first, assembly was a cinch. Even though I have only 3/4″ clearance between the hinged edge of the door and a perpendicular wall, it still hangs perfectly. Relief began with the very first hang! I really appreciate the variety of positions – arms straight past my ears, pronated; just a little farther out, neutral; with two more pronated and one more neutral positions even farther out. I’m heavy, so I also really appreciate that I (I’m 5’3″) can just reach up, grab where I’m comfortable and ease my heels down and then bend my knees to achieve maximum tolerable stretch. I stay in complete control the entire time. Already had rotator cuff surgery. This is the option to more surgery, not a catalyst for further injury. Update: Seriously. At least 30 seconds 2-3x/day of hanging brings relief for shoulders. Hanging allows the muscles of your ribs, front and back, to relax. This is even better than ’dead hangs,’ because you can use your weight to stretch in different directions and achieve adjustments in your spine and even hips (do all moves very slowly).

This is rock solid. I am 215 lbs and it does not bend, creak or anything! Multiple hand holds, comfortable and it has not marked any of my blonde wood door frames. Highly recommended!!
