Intense Cardio Focused Review
This review is going to focus on using this elliptical a little more hardcore, trying to get the best cardio workout possible. So you know who’s using this for comparison purposes, I’m going to start by telling you a little about myself.
I purchased this mainly because I sit at a desk all day, am in my late 50s, and although not overweight, could use toning, tightening, and cardio protection. This machine “feels” like it will do all of the above, and best of all it was inexpensive. I can cancel my $10/month gym membership which I can never get to, and workout in my PJs anytime I want to. Because of its portability which makes it accessible, I find it easy to stay motivated, something I have a very hard time with. I’m not ashamed to say, that I hate going to the gym as it is too much trouble to get to after a hard day at work. I keep this in my living room in front of the sofa and use it every night during the television commercials. When company comes, I scoop it up by the handle and hide it. It is low impact, so it has not hurt my sensitive joints, something I was a little worried about.
So far so good!
After moving to a new location that is a bit longer drive from the local gym, I’ve found that I started to using the distance as a reason to not go. After a long day of work, helping the kids with homework, seeing a nice meal on the table…you get the idea, the gym was too easily pushed off during weekday evenings.
My Experience with this Strider over a year.
I used this strider for about 1 year. It was quiet, compact, convenient, and served it’s purpose. I’d had my eye on this product since I was 318lbs and purchased it once I hit my 250lb milestone. I spent 30-40 minutes on it 3x a week, standing/not sitting. It provided a decent sweat while being able to distract yourself and watch TV. The pedal movements are very short, but it didn’t feel uncomfortable for my height of 5’7″. After roughly 6 months of consistent use, the pedal cranks would start to loosen and jiggle, a scary and unsettling feeling when you’re on the strider. At first, I only had to re-tighten them once ever 3-4 uses, then over a few more months, it started to get worse and loosen after only 20min of us. At this point I’d reached a weight low enough to invest in my progress and move onto something more serious. So I ended up buying a used, full size elliptical to increase my workout intensity. I ended up donating my InMotion Strider. I could have probably kept it and put some loc-tite on the bolts and hope it wouldn’t keep loosening, but for $100, it served it’s purpose and was a part of my journey between the 250lb and 218lb mark. At 193lbs, today, I’ve moved on from the elliptical to a spin bike to help take me to my next stage of fitness. Looking back at this device, it really served me well for the price!
Lost all baby weight and more!!!!
I love this product and have recommended it to people. I have a newborn baby so I can’t hit the gym. I gained 32 lbs during pregnancy; I have lost 36 lbs by eating healthy and just using this thing! It’s hard to go out every day for a walk when you’re so sleep deprived.
Comfortable, fun, small.
So let’s be straight here. You are never going to get super fit with this thing. But if you’re like me and sit a desk all day it will definitely help you burn calories while you work. It works sitting down but I prefer to stand. Once you master the small step gait it requires it’s very comfortable to use. I bought it to pedal under my desk. But I find myself using it every day. It’s also whisper quiet so I can do it while I watch TV with my wife or play video games. It’s also helped me a lot with some knee joint pain. Over all I’m very happy with this product. The only negative I can think of is you must wear shoes. The peddles’ traction was not designed for bare feet.
seems solid except for the handlebar component
My husband and I go to the gym or workout classes nearly everyday, but I bought this for myself for situations where I want to get a workout in without driving all the way to the gym, or if I am strapped for time, or don’t want to venture outside in the freezing weather. So, it’s not an everyday machine for me, but rather a backup. I put this together myself in about an hour. It seems to operate pretty smoothly.
IMO – worth it!
I’ve had my machine for 6 months now. I LOVE it! Some mention it’s began to squeak.. I noticed if I clean off the track and wheels. Just do a quick dust off, it doesn’t squeak when going forward. It will do a bit of one if I switch to going backward. But it’s not too bad.
